lieved Ozzie Guillen at short in the late innings and
filled in occasionally at third. A scrappy, little in-
fielder who can play second, short and third, he is
a solid, line-drive hitter. "He's a good player, not
just a good 'little' player," said Jim Snyder, the Sox
director of minor league instruction. "We have to
forget his size. He plays like he's 6-2."
Craig is one of those rare players who was sign-
ed out of a tryout camp and made it to the bigs.
That was in '86 after no one drafted him despite a
320 BA at Cal State. Craig proved the experts
wrong when he ranked eighth in batting in the
Southern League in both '88 and '89. He also top-
ped the league with 153 hits in '89.
