performance measures up to his boasts. In his 70 starts at out-
side linebacker over a period of five years, Harris has been cred-
ited with 54-1/2 sacks. He has been the Green Bay Packers'
strongest pass-rushing threat since they selected him on the
fourth round of the 1986 draft out of Memphis State. Don't ex-
pect Harris to intercept passes. His assignment is to charge ag-
gressively on every play, heading for the passer or penetrating
to stop the rush. Harris came into his own in 1989 when his
19-1/2 sacks were second in the NFL and one short of the Green
Bay record. That same season, he forced four fumbles and re-
covered three, capping the year with his selection to the Pro
Bowl. Harris was responsible for three Green Bay scores in
1988: he twice tackled runners for safellies, and blocked a punt
for a 10-yard touchdown runback.
