Ships USP First-Class.The marvelous things predicted for Scott ever since his mag- nificent college career at North Carolina finally came true in 1989. He took over as the ace of the Mariners' starting staff after Mark Langston was traded. What's more, Scott ran off a team record nine-game winning streak. In 17 of his first 19 starts, he allowed three or fewer runs. Scott, a control pitcher, has excellent movement on his fastball, and throws a dandy back door slider that breaks in hard on righthanded hitters. He was an All-America at North Carolina as he compiled an 11-0 record, with a 1.50 ERA and 124 strikeouts in 96 innings. Scott was just as good with the U.S. Olympic team (5-0 mark and a 0.86 ERA in 11 games).
