He gained his first major league shutout and complete game with a five-hit, 4-0 win over the Angels. Ten days later, in his fifth start, Mike, who throws a split-fingered fastball, beat the Indians 4-0 with a four-hitter. A 10-year minor league veteran, he originally was drafted by the Indians in '80, was traded to the Giants in '85 and was picked up by the Rangers in '86 after he was released.
